Perfex CRM Ecommerce Module: Turn Your CRM Into a Commerce Backend
How a Perfex CRM ecommerce module adds a storefront, POS, and automatic invoicing inside Perfex, and when a separate store platform is the better call.
If you run your business on Perfex CRM and want to start selling online, the standard advice is to stand up WooCommerce or Shopify next to it and wire the two together. Now you own two customer databases, two product catalogs, two invoice trails, and a sync integration that quietly becomes its own project. A Perfex CRM ecommerce module takes the opposite approach: instead of gluing a store onto your CRM, it turns the CRM itself into the commerce backend, so orders, invoices, stock, and customer records live in one system from the first sale.
Full disclosure: we are Themesic Interactive and we build and sell the module discussed here, Perfex Shop. The underlying question, though - where should your store actually live - is worth thinking through whether you buy anything from us or not.
The real cost of gluing a store to your CRM
A separate storefront is a separate source of truth. It has its own customer table, its own product records, its own order history, and usually its own tax logic. The moment you connect it to a CRM, you inherit a class of problems that have nothing to do with selling: webhooks that fire twice or not at all, customers who exist on one side but not the other, orders in the store that never became invoices in the CRM, and stock counts that drift apart until someone reconciles them by hand.
For a large retail operation with a dedicated dev team, that tax is worth paying, because the store is the business. But many Perfex installs belong to agencies, service firms, and small product companies where selling is one function among many. Perfex already holds the customers, generates the invoices, and tracks the items. The pragmatic question is not “which store platform should I integrate” but “can the CRM sell directly”. That is the gap a Perfex CRM ecommerce module fills.
What a Perfex CRM ecommerce module covers
Perfex Shop adds a storefront inside the Perfex Customers Area. Customers and guests browse a responsive product grid, add items to a cart, and check out - at which point Perfex generates the invoice automatically. There is no export step and no sync job, because the order never leaves the CRM. Guests who start an order get redirected to register or sign in and land back at their cart afterwards, so a login wall does not cost you the sale. You can also hide products or prices from non-logged visitors, or run the whole catalog in B2B wholesale mode for members-only trade pricing.
A product type dropdown covers physical goods, digital downloads, and services from the same catalog. Digital products can sell with unlimited quantity, recurring invoices are supported for subscription-style billing, and tax can be applied at the price level so the correct VAT shows in the storefront. Products support unlimited variations - size, color, model - each with its own price, stock count, and attributes.
Two details matter more than they sound:
- Multi-currency selling. Enable the currencies you want in settings and each product is priced in the shopper’s currency. A currency can be marked tax-free, which skips both product and shipping tax for it.
- SEO-ready product pages. Every product gets its own page with a search-friendly slug, meta title, meta description, canonical URL, and structured data, and categories carry their own hierarchy and SEO metadata. Your catalog is indexable instead of hiding behind a generic listing.
You can also sell without sending anyone to the Customers Area at all: every product exposes a stand-alone buy link you can drop onto a landing page or an email, and direct add-to-cart URLs push an item into the cart, bump the quantity on repeat visits, and return new signups to checkout after they register.
Point of sale, same catalog, same invoices
The built-in POS lets staff raise an order directly from the Perfex admin, without going through the storefront. Those orders run through the same catalog and the same invoicing as the online shop, so in-person and online sales end up in one place. If you take orders over the phone or at a counter, this is the difference between one order history and two.
A concrete walkthrough: install to first order
Here is the path in practice for a small firm selling a mix of services and physical goods:
- Install and activate the module. It takes a few seconds, involves no coding, and follows the online documentation.
- Create categories, then products: a physical item with variations and stock counts, a service with no quantity at all (services and digital products are never reduced to zero stock, however many times they sell), and a digital download.
- Configure the single settings page. Flat-rate shipping, tax rules, low-stock thresholds, and cron URLs all live in one view, and each feature - B2B mode, wishlists, abandoned-cart emails, remarketing - is a toggle there.
- Take the first order. A customer checks out in the Customers Area, Perfex generates the invoice, stock drops automatically, and the sale lands in Order History with activity logging.
- Watch the reporting. A Quantity Report in the Perfex reporting menu notifies administrators when an item falls below your low-quantity threshold, and the analytics dashboard tracks conversion rate, revenue per product, checkout funnel drop-off, and abandoned-cart trends by week, month, year, or a custom range.
Staff access is controlled through the standard Perfex permissions section, so you decide exactly who can touch the store and its settings.
The marketing layer you would otherwise bolt on
Most stores end up installing several separate apps for growth basics. Perfex Shop ships them in the box: coupons with usage limits and product, category, or cart rules; wishlists; abandoned cart recovery through a real Perfex email template with merge fields and a configurable delay; exit popups with exit-intent, time, or scroll triggers plus a test mode; reviews and ratings; social proof and low-stock badges; a referral program; back-in-stock and price-drop alerts; gift cards and post-purchase upsells.
On the tracking side there is native Meta Pixel and Google Ads integration firing PageView, ViewContent, AddToCart, InitiateCheckout, and Purchase events in your store currency with a GA4-compatible structure, custom script injection for platforms like TikTok and Pinterest, and slots for heatmap tools such as Hotjar, Crazy Egg, or Microsoft Clarity. WhatsApp and SMS notifications go out through webhook gateways with a merge-field template editor, triggered by events such as order placed, order paid, and abandoned cart.
Where it does not fit
If ecommerce is your entire business - thousands of SKUs, carrier-calculated shipping, a multi-vendor marketplace, a design team that wants full theme control - a dedicated platform is still the right call. The shipping model documented here is flat-rate, the storefront lives inside the Perfex Customers Area rather than as a standalone site, and checkout hands off to a Perfex invoice, so payment collection follows the invoicing flow your Perfex install already has. Perfex Shop is built for the case where Perfex is the center of your operation and selling should join it, not the case where a store needs a CRM bolted on behind it. If you are in the second camp, integrate in the other direction.
